On Friday 24 January Massimiliano Caruso (CEO of OWTC and President of Active House Italia), participated in the round table, within the kermes of Klimahouse 2020, which compared environmental quality certifications.

The debate was attended by representatives of the most authoritative and most requested certification bodies within the construction industry. In addition to Eng. Caruso, on behalf of Active House Italia, Eng. Marco Caffi – Director of Green Building Council Italy, Arch. Leopoldo Busa – Founder of Biosafe Dipl. Günther Gantioler – Scientific Director of Passive House and Activehouse Italy, Eng. Mauro Carlino – Habitech (ARCA certification), Eng. Giulia Menegazzi – Habitech (WELL protocol) tooken the floor.

Massimiliano was initially asked to present The Active House Italia association, founded in Milan in 2016 and officially recognized as a member of the international Active House Alliance in 2017. Massimiliano was then asked to illustrate the Active House validation protocol and to put also highlight the merits of the protocol.

The President of Active House Italia thus has the opportunity to explain how this protocol is very user friendly and how, through the validation radar of the performance of an Active House building, it is also a valid tool, in the design phase, to create a Road Map that can be easily read and used by the Client.

Massimiliano also explained how the Active House radar, for designers, can become a valid tool to support strategic decisions. Finally, the speakers highlighted how among the various certification protocols, environmental performance and eco-sustainability of a building, a virtuous integration work is taking place and this allows to favor the use of the results of a protocol to receive, quickly and with reduced costs, the certifications of other protocols.

All this in the certainty, now clearly expressed by the international and now Italian real estate market, that a building with an environmental certification, such as those presented, immediately generates a significant surplus value of the asset itself compared to an equal building without environmental certification.

The City of the Future

Rome, 25 September 2018 – Urban agglomerations with low environmental impact, sustainable buildings with high living comfort that allow a healthier life. This is the goal of the “The City of the Future” forum, organized by Road to Green 2020 and Active House Italia, which brought some of the main companies operating in the construction sector to Rome, with particular attention to issues related to sustainability. The event received the patronage of the Ministry of the Environment, of Rome Capital and the Department of Environmental Policies, by virtue of the contribution offered in the field of sustainable urban development.

During the debate some best practices from different countries were illustrated, on the basis of which a constructive comparison was then articulated, towards new ideas and increasingly innovative solutions.

The future is construction 0.0

Massimiliano Caruso (CEO of OWTC) presented the contents of Construction 0.0: “Digitization and artificial intelligence are transforming every sector of industry and the construction world cannot fail to take this into account. We have been hearing about smart homes for some time, but the future is cognitive home and building 0.0: zero carbon dioxide, zero consumption, zero discomfort, zero waste, zero inefficiencies. Thermal insulation, healthy air, use of natural light, optimal management of acoustics and vibro-acoustics. The construction of the houses must aim to produce a volume of waste as close as possible to 0 and, where possible, prefer recycled and recyclable materials”. These are the main contents that Massimiliano citied during the interview released within the Roman event.
